I'm a multi-fandom girl.

Let me start out by saying I am not the fandom police and I am not the only demisexual person in this fandom. I am not trying to tell you what to do with Neil in your fics. However, if you want to write Neil as demisexual (aka his canon sexuality), there are a few things that you should be aware of. (This is not a call out post. It only exists because I, a demisexual, wanted to make an informative demisexual post. Feel free to use this info or ignore it as you wish.)

First, demisexuals are capable of having sex without sexual attraction. Sometimes demisexual people have sex because they’re experimenting. Sometimes they feel broken and decide to try to fit in. Sometimes they’re guilted into it. Sometimes they really want to be attracted to someone and convince themselves it will work out eventually. Just like anyone else, demisexuals might have sex outside of sexual desire.

Next, demisexuals are capable of friends with benefits relationships. Neil would have to trust someone and feel an emotional connection to someone to be sexually attracted to them, but he doesn’t have to be in love with them. Friendship counts as an emotional connection.

Piggybacking off the last point, demisexuality is not another word for soulmate au. What I mean by this is that demisexual people are not out looking for their perfect unicorn in order to have sex. They’re not wearing a chastity belt that only their true love can unlock. If Neil has settled down and gotten to know people and has made friends, then meets Andrew in his thirties, there’s a good chance he would have some sexual experience. (This being said, if virginity is your kink, you do you.)

This has been a PSA. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask me. I am offering my services as a demisexual. (This is also based on my personal experience. It’s possible other demisexuals have had completely different experiences.)

I’m looking for beta readers for an original work. It’s a YA/New Adultish fantasy about deer evolving and deciding to hunt people. The main character is a dashing young deer named Leaf, who has been struggling with the moral implications of hunting. Here is a small excerpt to pique your interest:

Everything changed when the deer noticed they were evolving. At first, it was small changes, like some deer noticing that they were able to rise up on their hind legs for long periods of time. This led to deer standing up like men. Like humans. Then, their hooves changed. Their cloven hooves started to look more like fingers, spread apart and independent from each other. They began to move like fingers and became shorter and blunter.

The great-grandmother deer said it was a sign from the Horned God. They were becoming more like men to protect them from men. To protect them from their ever-encroaching presence in the forest and the meadows. To protect them from their rifles. It was a sign of favor. The Horned God had given the herd a gift but also a duty. A duty to keep the balance, as nature required. The herd would fulfill this duty. Great-grandmother deer was their matriarch. While not the herd-leader, she was the most regarded elder. When she gave her edict, the herd complied. Her orders were clear. They must fight fire with fire. They must have a hunting season.

This is the complete prologue.

TW/CW: graphic violence, animal death, people death, mild sexual content, mild drug use, racism towards a character. Also, I was reading aftg when I wrote this, and I’m not gonna lie, some of the characters are real assholes.

It also has queer characters!

If you’re interested, reply to this post or send me a message. I plan to self-publish this sometime next year, and as beta reader you will be mentioned in the acknowledgments under whatever name you want. Also, if you have a friend that you think will be interested, feel free to pass it along to them. Thanks!

Headcanons I like that are no way supported by canon and could possibly directly contradict it:

1. Andrew and Aaron can’t handle spicy foods. ( check out if you can’t take the heat by Ominous for a hilarious take on this!)

2. Neil eventually gets full sleeves tattooed on his arms as a reclamation of his body from the scars other people gave him.

3. Andrew and Neil get married eventually.

4. Andrew is afraid of spiders. Neil is in charge of all spider removals.

5. Matt is also afraid of spiders. Dan thinks they’re cool. Matt and Andrew bond a little over partners who lack basic self-preservation instincts.

6. Nicky refers to himself as Sir and King’s grandpa.

7. Kevin hates avocados, but still eats Wymack’s guacamole.

8. Aaron likes trashy romance novels. The only person who knows this is Katelyn.

9. Allison is a champion at Uno. She wins almost every game. People have accused her of cheating. She swears she doesn’t.

10. Renee dances when she’s nervous. It helps get her energy out.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but Andrew Minyard is more emotionally intelligent than Neil Josten. I will not be taking any further questions at this time.

P.S. that’s an outright lie. I will happily go on about this at length.
